Insider Patch Notes 2.0.16.2
Insider Update 2.0.16.2 is now live, with further balancing updates to Ashen Lords, some exciting new accessibility options and further improvements to hit registration!
If you encounter any bugs, then please head to the
Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.
Ashen Lords
- Encounter Balancing – Ashen Lord knockback attacks now set fire to players and ships in close range but may still deal damage to ships anchored further away. Knockback attack damage has also been made consistent throughout the encounter.
- Ashen Lord Rewards – Geysers that appear after completing the Ashen Lord encounter are now shorter in duration and have an increased chance of producing a Chest of Rage.
Accessibility
- Single Stick Control – ‘Play with a single analogue stick’ can be enabled in the accessibility settings menu to switch to single analogue stick control. This combines movement and turning to one analogue stick chosen by the player, as well as enabling an auto-centre camera and fixed position interaction points.
- Auto-Centre Camera – While the auto-centre camera is enabled by default when using single stick controls, this feature is available for use separately from the accessibility settings. Options are provided to configure the delay before centering along with the camera movement speed.
- Improved Narration Support – When the ‘Let Games Read to me’ option is enabled, the ‘Choose your Adventure’ screen now provides narration instructions, informing players what keys to press to navigate. Status messages such as ‘Reporting for Duty’ & ‘Searching the Seas’ are now narrated when navigating the Sea of Thieves main menu.
- Default Settings for New Players – New players entering Sea of Thieves will now find that the ‘Text Chat In Menus’ setting is enabled by default, ensuring that players requiring Speech-To-Text for their experience will now receive messages while navigating in-game menus. Existing players will not have their settings changed.
Updates
- Arena Inactive Ships – If a rival crew leave an active contest their ship now instantly begins to sink, preventing from gaining any further Silver from damaging it.
- Settings Screens – The layout of the Gameplay & Accessibility Settings screens have been updated to improve navigation.
Known Issues
- Ashen Lords VFX – The visual effects surrounding the Ashen Lords are larger than intended. The VFX for the fire rock projectiles also appear as a flat plane, which is very noticeable on uneven surfaces.
- Ashen Lord Encounter – When engaging an Ashen Lord in and around water they become unable to summon skeletons and even aim at players with ranged attacks.
- Front End Menu Crash (PC) - Insiders playing this build on PC may experience crashes when navigating the Sea of Thieves front end menu. If this error occurs, please reboot the Sea of Thieves Insider client. Note that after rebooting the Insider client, players will be asked to check the integrity of their files. Select 'no' to continue the reboot process.
- Pirate Emporium Crash (PC) - Insiders playing this build on PC will experience a crash when attempting access the Pirate Emporium from the Sea of Thieves front end menu and at Outposts. We advise any Insiders playing on PC to avoid using the Pirate Emporium altogether until this issue has been resolved.
