Insider Patch Notes 2.0.13.2
Insider Update 2.0.13.2 is now live! Following your feedback, we have a range of changes to combat, reviving and Ghost Ship encounters. We have also introduced the highly requested Tall Tale checkpoints which give you the opportunity to save your progress within a Tall tale.
If you do encounter any bugs, then please head to the
Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.
Ghost Ships
- Emergent Ghost Ship Encounter – During an emergent Ghost Ship encounter, crews will now find more structured waves clearly showing their progress through the battle. In addition, the total duration of the encounter has been increased. At key stages throughout the encounter, the fleet will subside, and a Captain of Formations will surface, encouraging crews to work together to fight through these increasingly challenging scenarios. Crews fighting through to the final wave will now encounter the Captain of the Fleet surrounded by his fleet and must take him down to complete the encounter!
- Ghost Ship Balancing – Ghost Ships are now more deadly and can vary in speed to add variety to the encounter, with faster ships being rarer. Ghost ships will also now fire more often, at a much wider angles and even from a greater distance! Ghost Ships will also no longer fire Firebombs as their Phantom and Wraith Cannonballs become available. The visual effects used for both Phantom and Wraith Cannonballs are still work in progress and not final visual quality.
Tall Tales Checkpoints
- Tall Tale Checkpoints ‘Shroudbreaker’ – Checkpoints allow players to save progress and pick up again in a new session. There are now points within each Tall Tale where the game will automatically save a ‘checkpoint’, and these checkpoints are shown as a Voyage. In a new session, your crew can vote on this Voyage to return to your checkpoint and continue from where you left off. Checkpoint Voyages will currently take up a slot in your voyages tab, however future Insider builds will see this transition into their own tab to free up voyage space.
Trading Company Emissaries
- Trading Company Costumes – Players can now purchase the Trading Company costumes from the Gold Hoarders, Order of Souls and Merchant Alliance company shops after buying the Emissary Flag. Reapers Bones does not yet have Costumes available, but you can purchase all Company promotion items such as the cannons and figurehead.
- Emissary Grade Commendations - Commendations awarded for reaching Emissary Grades 1,2,3,4 and 5 can now be unlocked.
- Recognising your Flag - Should your ship sink while representing as an Emissary, the tooltip will specify that the flag that floats up to the surface was your own. Cashing this in will reward you with negligible gold and reputation.
- Emissary Grade Progress - When earning Emissary Grade progress, the UI displaying your Grade have now been improved visually.
- Expanding Trading Company Ranks – The Trading Companies have expanded their ranks to defend against the Reaper’s Threat. Athena’s Fortune now allows players to progress to Rank 20, with new promotions and titles available from the Pirate Lord.
- Emissary Ledger – Each Trading Company now shows its most valuable Emissaries within the new Emissary Ledger tab in the reputation pane. Cashing in rewards as an Emissary will earn you ‘Company Value’ towards the Ledger and you can track your value on a global scale with other players. Each Emissary Ledger will reset on a monthly basis, and progressing through the Company tiers will earn exclusive cosmetics which will be retained when the Ledger closes. During Insider testing, we may reset the Emissary Ledger regularly in order to deploy updates and test our back-end services.
