Insider Patch Notes 2.0.12.3

Insider Update 2.0.12.3 is now live, with more fixes and balancing coming in for our March update features - head to Duke on the floor of the Tavern and head out to find those Athena’s Treasures!

If you do encounter any bugs, then please head to the Sea of Thieves support site and let our Player Support team know.

The Arena

The Glorious Sea Dog’s have been busy creating a new contest to challenge players within the Arena. For more insight into design approach behind the scenes, head to the latest Developer Update post!

  • The Sea Dog’s Beacon – The Glorious Sea Dogs have a new challenge waiting in the Arena! Treasure Maps have now been removed from contests and crews are now tasked with locating Glorious Sea Dog Chests imbued with magic, causing them to display a beacon for all to see. With all crews now converging on the same location, the competition will be intense!
  • New Arenas – Each Arena has now been redesigned to be smaller and with a single delivery location, less emphasis on sailing and more emphasis on action!
  • Shorter Contests – Contests will now last for 15 minutes instead of 24 minutes, bringing players into more intense competition. With Gold and Reputation earned after a contest remaining unchanged, crews will now progress faster through the Sea Dogs Company!
  • Increased Silver for Battling – Battling other ships within a contest will now award more Silver, rewarding those who seek the thrill of ship to ship combat.
  • *Reviving *- You will now have several seconds after a crew mate is defeated to bring them back to the seas and avoid the Ferry of the Damned. Run up to a downed player and hold X on controller or F on keyboard & mouse to revive them. In Adventure if you are not revived you will be sent to the ghost ship, in Arena if you are not revived the death flow stays the same.
  • Start with a Rowboat – Each ship will now start the contest with a rowboat attached, themed with their team’s colours and style! Remember, once you lose it you won’t get a replacement.
  • Punishment for Quitting – Players who quit during an active contest will now be issued a strike and gaining two strikes will bar them from re-joining the Arena for a short time.

This Insider build contains a very early iteration of this feature; we’ll be performing a more structured test of this system in a future update!
